Rave Review - Australis Colour Lip Inject in Burlesque - My perfect MLBB color !

Before getting into beauty blogging, I was really into lip glosses. But since my love affair with beauty started, I became a lipstick convert. So anyways all this background is to tell you that I don't try lip glosses at all.

It so happened a fine day, I was shopping for someone and spotted this lip gloss. I tried it and I was hooked, so I bought it. I love the colour and I love the feel.

I have a lot of bright lipsticks, so this colour 'Burlesque' is a welcome change in my collection.

What Australis has to say about it ?
So glossy and nourishing, long lasting but it’s also moisturising. It’s an injection of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, your very own lip doctor. It contains Kakadu plum which is the world’s highest known source of vitamin C. Vitamin C is not only soothing, but also naturally stimulates collagen formation.

So let's see the good and the bad of the Australis Colour Lip Inject..

The Good
  • Affordable and easily available
  • Beautiful everyday colour
  • Awesome texture, feels really moisturizing
  • Not sticky at all
  • Lovely smell
  • Nice applicator

The Bad
  • None

The Price
11.95 AUD

Where to buy
Priceline, Australis website, Kmart, Target, etc.

Have you tried 'Australis Colour Lip Inject' ? Which one is your favorite ?

The Makeup Brushes I use

I had no makeup brushes two years back, I didn't even know that brushes were required for makeup ;D. Since moving to Sydney, my love for makeup along with my makeup/brush collection has expanded to some extent ..Today's post highlights which brushes I use and for what ..

Foundation
I am not really a foundation person. I only wear foundations for special occasions. I sometimes apply it with my fingers or sometimes I use Sigma F86. Same for the BB cream, I like to blend in with F86 or sometime just with my trusty old fingers. IMO, applying with fingers is the fastest.

Powder
I enjoy wearing Loreal mineral powder foundation and Australis Fresh and Flawless pressed powder. For both,  mineral powder and face powders, I use Models Prefer MPP 100 (This is a local brand available exclusively at Priceline). This is a lovely soft fluffy brush, also works perfectly for buffing in liquid foundation.

Blush
Eco Tools blush brush also reviewed here, is the brush I use for powder blushes. For cream blushes I use F86 (in the first pic) by Sigma since it is good at picking up cream products.

Concealer
I usually apply n blend in my concealer with my fingers and then powder over it with Models Prefer MPP 100. Sometimes I also like to apply powder with smaller fluffy brushes like Sigma E40 (in pic 5).

Contour

I contour very less, but when I do, I use this no name brush from Coastal scents. Its a small tapered brush which is perfect for contouring and then I blend it with any bigger brush.

Lips
I usually apply lipsticks directly from the tube, even the bold and brighter ones, but just in case If i need to use  a brush, I keep a Sigma L05 (which I haven't used even once btw)

Eyes
For eyeshadow, I mainly use the Australis eyeshadow brush, MAC 217, Sigma E25 & E40. I absolutely love MAC 217 and  Sigma
E40. I prefer using the fluffy brushes for application as compared to the typical flat shadow brushes.

For eyeliner, I like to use Sigma E05 or even the brushes that come with the Maybelline gel liner. Those brushes work just as well.

Which are your favorite brushes ?

**This does not include the Real Techniques brushes I just bought, as I am just getting into using them. I will probably do an updated post later in time**

Review - Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder in 'Darkest Brown'

Today I am reviewing Australis 'Fresh and Flawless' pressed powder. Australis, as obviously the name suggests, is an Australian company which provides high quality affordable drugstore products. Australis 'Fresh and Flawless' pressed powder is a fine, oil free and fragrance free powder, perfect for everyday and on the go, since its mirrored and does not make a dent to your pocket :).
My shade is 'Darkest Brown'. I apply this with Models Prefer MPP100 brush. So without much ado, lets see the good and the bad.

Swatches

The Good
  1. Very fine powder, does not look cakey when applied over foundation.
  2. Decent coverage, surely build-able.
  3. Good to wear on its own over concealer or over foundation.
  4. Affordable and easy availability.
  5. Lasts well.
  6. Oil free and fragrance free.
  7. Nice sturdy packaging, easy to close and open with a click.
  8. Has a mirror inside, good for on the go touch ups.
  9. A lot of Australian youtubers have mentioned this to be very similar to MAC Studio Fix Powder and have even done comparisons.

The Bad
  1. Available only in Australia & New Zealand.
  2. Limited color selection.

The Price

11.40 for 12gms product. Try picking it up on sale !

Where to buy

Available at Big W, Kmart, Target, Priceline, selected pharmacies. You can also shop from the Australis
website

Have you tried this? What do you think ?

September & October Empties #2 !

I am new to doing empties post, check out the last one I did HERE. I don't post these on a monthly basis as I don't have enough products to put up, so as and when I have enough products, I do one ..

  1. Clean n Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser
This is one of my favorite facial cleanser. This is probably the third bottle of it. The cleanser has tiny beads and is gentle enough to be used every day. It helps me wake up :). This is a definite repurchase.
  2. Australis Lip Butter in 'Coral Reef'
I have to say, I was sucked in by the packaging. This lovely cute little pot offering to keep your lips hydrated, who wouldn't want to buy it ?. Its a good lip balm, but not sure if I will repurchase this, as at the moment I am enjoying balms/butters in stick form.

  3. Dabur Gulabari Rose water
This is something that I always use, every night after I remove my makeup. You can use this as a facial mist on hot summer days. You can use it with a cotton pad on your face, or spray it directly on your face, or you can use it in your packs, there are multiple uses.
  4. Nivea Essentials Lip Balm
A good moisturizing lip balm. Repurchase ? don't think so, I keep trying new ones/flavors.
  5. Head n Shoulders Anti Dandruff Shampoo
This is always a repurchase, I rotate between a normal and an anti dandruff shampoo.
  6. Nivea Dry Impact For Men
This is the husband's staple deodorant and this is also always a repurchase.

  7. Yes To Tomatoes Volumizing shampoo
Good everyday shampoo, though not volumizing at all. I don't think I will be repurchasing this.
  8. Face of Australia Strengthening Nail polish remover
I picked this because its a strengthening remover, am not sure if it helps with that, I didn't see any noticeable difference. Am using the Priceline essentials one currently.
Have you tried any of these products? What do you think? What items do you keep repurchasing?

NOTD - Crackle Finally ! - Australis 'Black Crackle'

I have always been intrigued by Crackle Nail polishes but somehow I never tried them (not sure why) .. So finally I bought Australis Crackle Nail Colour in 'Black Crackle' and I am in love ..I find it very fascinating to see the polish crackle after it has been applied :) .. I am not a nail art person and I think the crackle polishes are a good option for people like me who want some zing to their NOTDs ..

So here is my crackle mani .. I decided to do my mani in the same color family as Australis packaging, black and hot pink :).

Australis Black Crackle on Lakme 257

I would like to give some other colors a try now :)

Do you like crackle polishes? Which is your favorite shade and brand ?

EOTD - Everyday Shimmers

I wore this shadow the other day when I had gone to Darling Harbor.. I call this look as Everyday Shimmers .. :)..I like to name them lol !! ..I found this to be a super quick eye do .. ..this is good as a everyday color or even otherwise ..it gives a nice glow and subtle shimmer to my eyes without going OTT ....and suits my skin tone (atleast that's what I think) ..well I am specifically mentioning this because I have tried different shades of greys before and I just didn't seem to like them on my skin tone .. they appear to be quite ashy ..but this gives a warm glow .. n I seem to like it ..

Products used

How I created this :
  • Primed my lids
  • Dabbed the grey shimmery shadow all over the lids and slightly up to the crease
  • Highlighted with the peachy/creamy shade
  • Applied mascara and eyeliner and you are done

Products used

Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition eye shadow (in Totally Busted), Australis Megalash MascaraFace of Australia liquid eyeliner

What do you guys think ? Do you like grey shadows on u n which is ur fav one?

Please ignore my super irritating lashes, they just don't curl without a curler ..I was in a hurry and I forgot to use one ..

July Favorites !!

Hi girls,

Now I know I am a tad bit delayed for this post. But I still wanted to share with you the products I have been enjoying this July. So read on ..

  • Australis Intensifeye Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in True Blue : I am loving this eyeshadow at the moment. Its a versatile eyeshadow. You can create both soft everyday looks and dramatic looks (by using the darker shades wet) with it. I have used it to create two smokey looks before. You can check them here and here.
  • Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Blush in Flash It : Love the way this blush looks with different colors put together in one. This is a combo of a bright pink, nude pink, beige, champagne and brown. I swirl the brush all over and use it on my cheeks. This can be used as a blush/highlighter and also as a blush/bronzer duo.
  • Australis Lip Butter in Coral Reef : Love the packaging (I have to admit the packaging was the I have to have it factor for this one ;)) of this lip butter, its a cute round pot with a mirror inside. It contains cocoa butter, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera and has a lovely subtle smell. Keeps lips smooth, soft and hydrated.
  • Loreal Glam shine in Always Pink : This is my all time fave lip gloss. It is a nude pinky shade, extremely good for throughout the day, on its own or as a top coat and stays pretty well too.
  • Loreal Nutrishine in Rose Guava : I have reviewed this here before. Its a everyday color and love the way it feels on the lips, very soft, smooth and shiny like a gloss.
  • Nail Polish by Next : I found this similar to one of the shades of the Face of Australia Molten Metallics range which I cannot recollect now. This was a part of one of the Nail polishes gift pack of Next .
  • Nivea Soft creme : I have been loving this cream this winter. Its really soft and light on the skin and keeps the skin well hydrated and soft. It can be used on face, hands and body. The biggest drawback is that it has no SPF. But I have been enjoying this since I am mostly at home these days ..so I soak my skin with this after bath and my skin is loving it ..
  • Sportsgirl Brush with Fame eye brush : I bought this for 2 dollars at sale. For this price you definitely cannot go wrong. Otherwise also I found this brush to be very soft and easy for application and enjoyed using it this month. I will definitely check out other brushes by Sportsgirl.
