Highend/Luxury Skincare - Collective Review

A while back I did a massive Mecca Maxima and Lush skincare haul. I have been trying the Mecca products for a couple of months now and thought I would do a collective review of the products I hauled.

Origins Never a Dull Moment Skin - Brightening Face Polisher (39 AUD)
I have been using this scrub nearly for two months now and I feel sad to say I don't like it. I find the scrub too thick for my liking, to the extent that its a bit difficult to mesh it into my hands to apply it and I find that I drop pieces of it in my shower. Also as strange as it sounds, when I started using the product, I found it really hard to squeeze it out of the tube, it almost felt like a task. Though I have found it to be okay now, maybe the product was too tightly packed. As a scrub, I find it okay but I haven't seen any brightening properties of it yet. I loved the Origins Ginzing scrub cleanser, but this one, I will definitely not recommend to anyone. Not worth the money IMO.

REN Rosa Centifolia Foaming Cleanser (26 AUD)
This cleanser has a beautiful rose fragrance almost like fresh rose water. It comes out like a foam, cleans well and leaves my skin feeling good and smooth. For my normal to dry skin, I don't find it leaving my skin dry. I haven't used this for makeup removal so not sure how it would work for that. Overall, for a cleanser it is a pretty decent one, does the job and smells good.

Origins Dr. Andrew Weil Mega-Bright eye cream (55 AUD)
I love Origins as a brand and it is one brand that I have started exploring more and more for my skincare, but I have come to realize now that I don't get along with their eye creams. First it was the Origins Ginzing eyecream that was just not for me and now Origins Dr. Andrew Weil Mega-Bright eye cream. This eye cream is similar to Ginzing in the terms, that it has some instant brightening properties though not as much as Ginzing. I have been using this for nearly a month now and I don't see my dark circles reducing. To me this is just okay as a normal eye cream for hydrating under eyes but nothing more but why would you wanna pay 50+ dollars for it ? If you have any eye cream suggestions please leave them below.

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask (59 AUD)
When you give in to the hype and buy things, but then when you come home and try it for yourself and the hyped product doesn't work for you, you can't help but be thoroughly disappointed. That's exactly how I feel about this mask. This mask absolutely does nothing for my face, I have been using this for almost two months now. I don't see any difference to how my skin feels nor does it look any brighter. It just feels like I have applied some fancy expensive orange jelly to my face. I will obviously continue to use it and I hope it works for me but so far it hasn't.

Soap and Glory Rich & Foamous Shower Gel  (14 AUD)

I love the Soap and Glory products that I have tried till now, especially their Breakfast Scrub is beautiful. I bought the Rich and Foamous shower gel because it said on the packaging 'irresistible almond, brown sugar and oats scent'. I like the scent but am not gaga about it. The scent is nice for winters and makes for a comforting night shower. The Body wash is really nice and creamy and leaves the skin feeling hydrated .

Unfortunately this haul did not work as well for me as I would have liked. Have you tired any of these products ? What do you think of them ?

  1. I feel the same way about that Ren mask! It was such a splurge, but I'd heard such great things, so I thought I'd go for it. I find it does very little. Nothing nearly as dramatic as others claim. :(

  2. never tried any of these..heard a lot about origins as a brand....never got chance to try any of their products..for eye cream- I suggest you to use trilogy eye cream; it really hydrates under eye area nd can be applied under makeup ass well... Another alternative is philosophy eye hope cream. I would suggest it to you if you have normal under eyes- not too dry...sad to see some of the origins products didn't work for you....

    1. Thanks a lot Renji for the eye cream suggestions. Is the Trilogy eye cream from a specific range ? I do love Origins as a brand, and have really liked some of their moisturizers but I guess its the eye creams that definitely don't work for me. No more trying eye creams from them.

  3. I'm using a sample of Never a Dull Moment and I agree. The formula is very thick. I feel like it leaves my skin smooth after use but I haven't seen any brightening qualities and have woken up with enlarged pores every morning after I use it. I am thankful I only got a sample before diving in. It's extra disappointing when the high end products don't work!
