5 Accessories to spice up your outfit !

I am big believer in what accessories can do for an outfit. In today's post I share with you my top 5 picks to spice up an outfit.

1. Statement Necklace - I love jewellery, statement necklaces being one of my favorite. Statement necklaces, in my opinion is the easiest way to bling up your outfit. If you are fond of plain, monochrome clothing, then statement jewellery is an easy way to add some color, some oomph to the outfit. I have previously done a post on Styling Necklaces. Featured in the pic, is a necklace from J Crew.

2. Watch - If jewllery is not your thing, then watches are the easiest bet to snazz up an outfit. There is so much on offer, metal strap, leather strap, wrap watches, chunky, delicate, etc. Featured in the pic, are watches from Marc Jabobs and Michael Kors.

3. Bright Lipstick - This may not be for everyone, but I truly belive a bright, bold lip, definitely adds all the style, glamour to an outfit. Featured in the pic, is MAC Ruby Woo.

4. Belt - I am big fan of skinny belts, they add definition to the outfit and pack a style statement too. Featured in the pic, is a belt from Forever New.

5. Scarves - This is one thing that I have to admit I don't wear a lot of. Scarves add an easy and effortless vibe to the outfit. Featured in the pic, are scarves from a local market in Mussorie (polka dotted one) and Her Fashion Box*

Which are your favorite accessories to snazz up an outfit ?

A while back Colette had 50% off on all jewellery and needless to say I shopped ! I have also been wanting to buy a new bag and I found something that I really like. Today's post is my recent bag and jewellery haul :) Enjoy !

I bought three necklaces from Colette.

I bought this fun colorful chunky necklace from Colette as I don't have anything in these colors. I got this for 8.48$.

I bought this diamante necklace in the black metal. I love this because it is a neutral piece and will go with everything. I got this for 8.48$.

Finally this pearl necklace, I love it because it is edgy as opposed to a lot of pearl necklaces. I got this for 6.48$.

On to the bags, I bought this bag from Strandbags. It is by the brand Marikai. This was for 69.99, I got this for 39$.

I wanted to buy a black cross body bag. I bought this black with gold hardware from Sportsgirl (discounted 23$).

Chunky Arm Candy - Favorite Street Finds

Don't we all love jewellery, I was just randomly going through my stuff and realized a lot of pieces that I adore, were from Indian street markets (well mainly, only one is from HongKong).

So, I decided I would do a post detailing that, so the next time you visit any of these places, you can shop till you drop :). India is perfect for street shopping, from Sarojini, GK, Lajpath in Delhi to Colaba Causeway in Mumbai to Johari n Bapu bazaar of Jaipur to Goa and the list goes on. Anyways hope you enjoy this arm candy post ..

Stack it up baby !

  1. Goa Street Market (under 150 Rs/ 3$)
I bought this chunky multi colored bangle from Goa. Its multicolored on a wooden base and sure makes a statement when you wear it ..The other two bangles with mini elephants printed on them look pretty stacked together and add a pop to your outfit.

  2. Hong Kong Street Market (price not sure gifted)
    My sister bought these pretty
enamel bracelets from Hong Kong, but really I have seen a lot of similar stuff everywhere in Delhi, Jaipur,etc.. These are fun n quirky way to style your outfit and almost go with anything..

  3. Jaipur Street Market
Jaipur has awesome street markets and is very famous for shopping..I bought these bangles from a street market and love them. Though these bangles are purple and green, they look very neutral when you wear them
.. Pair them with a bright plain T and they look great :) - (Under 100Rs/ 2$ for the set)

These are pure silver bangles with Meena work (enamel) that were also bought at a Jaipur Market. They go well both with western n ethnic wear..I love the color combination (1000Rs/ 20$ each)

  4. Sarojini Delhi Market (under 150 Rs/ 3$)
Sarojini Market is a shopper's paradise. You can get everything possible there. I love this chunky rustic bangle. I love that it has gold, rose gold and silver together, is surely a statement piece, looks great on its own or stacked together. The multicolored bangles are great to stack on with other bangles n add are a good way to brighten your outfit ..

  5. Ladakh Market (price not sure gifted)
This is a piece that was gifted to me and is very special to me :). This was bought from Ladakh
and I believe is from one of those tourist gift/jewellery shops. It is one of the vintage pieces that I have in my collection and I love it ..

**Pls note all these were bought atleast one or two years ago. The pricing and the trends have changed since then**

Cheap but Chic Diaries - Rings from Lovisa

Today's 'Cheap but Chic Diaries' features rings from Lovisa. They have a 3 for $ 10 sale going on. I believe its mostly for earrings and rings. BTW they are having a mid season sale on a lot of stuff. I bought two statement rings and a small one for a change as they are easy to throw on whenever you want. Both the statement rings are quite edgy n trendy n I really like them.

One is that aztec design and the other is more like a warrior ring with a mirror finish stone ..

I believe its always good to pick trendy pieces on sale n more classic pieces for the full price :) Hope you enjoyed Edition 3 of Cheap but Chic Diaries. Check out the previous ones HERE.

Jewelry Storage - My Jewelry Armoire

I wanted to share my jewelry storage with you. For a while I was struggling with organizing my jewelry in one place. I wanted it all together so that I could see it all and decide what to wear ... Seriously out of sight, out of mind for me .. So I bought this Jewelry Armoire this February from Target for 100 $. I believe this should be easily available on ebay. In Australia this is also available at Costco

Storage on both left and the right side.

Necklace sections

There are three sections where you can hang your necklaces. Two on the left door and one on the right side of the armoire. The '1' is apt for your long necklaces while at the no '2' you can hang your cuffs or scarves or some more chains .. on '3' - I hang my medium sized necklaces ..

Earrings section

The pic above is where I hang my earrings. As you can see, it is the top most section of the right side of the armoire.

Studs, Rings, Bracelets and random stuff

The pic above shows the bottom section of the right side of the armoire. The top two rows are meant for rings I believe. But I keep my studs in the first row and rings in the second.

Below these are just plain random rows where you can keep anything from bracelets, to watches, to jewelry cleaning cloths, etc.

Hope you enjoyed the post ? How do you store and sort your bling ?

Cheap but Chic Diaries - Mini Jewelry Organizer

Todays 'Cheap but Chic Diaries' features a pretty little Jewelry Organizer from The Reject Shop. It was priced at 4 dollars.

As soon as I saw this pretty little thing my eyes were just stuck on it and I knew that I wanted it so bad . U ask why ? because it was pink, it was pretty, it was polka dotted and I knew it would look good on my dresser ..

Its a tiny organizer n honestly not very useful for storage. Its a cute piece to keep on your vanity to hang jewelry that is heavy on rotation. The pic on the left is how I have mine, just decorated with the stuff that I am leaning towards currently. This is also available in mint and baby blue color.

Hope you liked the second volume of 'Cheap but Chic Diaries'

DIY - Neon Necklace

I have been seeing a lot of DIY (Do it yoursef) videos on youtube and blogs.. and as exciting as they seem, I never felt the urge to try them (cos I am lazy) .. I was at Diva the other day and I saw a lot of neon necklaces and I was like, I can do this on my own ..

So yes surprisingly this a DIY post from a super lazy person but I sure did pick the easiest DIY, so without further ado I shall leave you with the pics and the steps to get going ..

You will need a plain necklace & some neon nail polishes

1 - Prime with a white nail polish

2 - Paint your chosen nail paints one by one

The Final Product- Neon Necklace

  1. You will need a plain crystal necklace as your canvas, a white nail polish and some neon nail polishes as per your preference. My necklace is from Forever new, I got it on sale once and never wore it.
  2. Coat the necklace with white nail polish to prep and prime it, so that the colors stand out better. Dry well before proceeding to the next step.
  3. Decide which color is to be placed where and start painting your polishes on. I decided a simple and fun pattern, different color for different rows.
  4. I applied three coats of the polishes. Make sure to dry well between coats.
  5. You can apply a top coat if you want to ( I skipped this step)
  6. Dry well preferably overnight and yay !! you are done :)
