Review - Issey Miyake L’eau D'issey EDT

There are somethings that you fancy and you plan on buying. You make a wishlist and finally get around to it. Issey Miyake L’Eau d'Issey was definitely not one of those things for me. I did not plan on buying it.

When I was in India this June, my big sister was creating this huge fuss about how crazy she is about this fragrance. I have to say, it sounds a bit strange coming from someone who has only been hooked to Davidoff Cool Water her entire life.

We have pretty similar taste, well almost in everything, so I was curious. While I was at the airport on my way back to Sydney, browsing through duty free, curiosity got the better of me and this pricey little glass bottle came home with me.

I had to share this story with you, let's move on with the review now :)

About the fragrance

Issey Miyake thought about creating a perfume that was "as clear as spring water", combining the spray of a waterfall, the fragrance of flowers, and the scent of springtime forest. L'Eau d'Issey achieved an enormous popularity, especially in the United States in the 1990s. L'Eau d'Issey is an aquatic floral scent with transparent notes of lotus, freesia and cyclamen and juicy melon. The middle note of peony, lily and carnation reveals the perfume's character. The end note is a refined woody scent with the notes of cedar, sandal, musk and amber. It was created in 1992 by Jacques Cavallier. (Details taken from http://www.fragrantica.com/)

I love that this perfume has a light and subtle scent. It is a very complex scent, floral predominantly but also fresh and fruity at the same time (It is not to sweet by any means). Issey Miyake L’eau D'issey is very different to anything I have tried before. It is good for day and night both. I have been completely obsessed by it and have finished almost half the bottle. To me, it is a very classic, feminine fragrance. It smells clean and fresh to me and I see myself repurchasing it.

Fragrance Fridays - Kiehl's PATCHOULI & FRESHROSE FRAGRANCE

This Fragrance Friday brings to you Kiehl's Patchouli & Freshrose Fragrance

There's a story behind this beautiful Kiehl's package, this was gifted to me by the husband and while I was very happy, somewhere in my mind there was a voice which was like, " Man ! 'Rose', I may have to exchange this one ". But, it so happened that I decided to keep this and I am so glad I did .. enough rambling and on to today's post :)

Aromatic Blends represents Kiehl's authentic apothecary heritage of inspiring fragrance blends. Combining ingredients inspired from around the world, our unique fragrances utilize the finest naturally derived ingredients. Our latest addition to the range is a decadent fusion of Rose and Patchouli with underlying hints of bergamot and mandarin orange.

Kiehl's has launched a body lotion, shower gel and an EDT in this range. I haven't yet tried the body lotion and the shower gel. The EDT comes in a simple, clear bottle with a silver lid. Its a nice size (30 ml) and is good for keeping in your bag.

I am not a big fan of rose fragrance and was worried that I will not like the range, but surprisingly the smell is not very rosy or very sweet, which totally works for me.

Kiehl's Patchouli & Freshrose Fragrance, is a beautiful floral smell with a subtle rose, fresh and citrus mix.
I have been really loving this EDT, the fragrance is  very clean and light and not overpowering at all as some rose fragrances can be.  I don't know how Patchouli smells so really cannot say if I can sniff it in this EDT.

This fragrance is very different to the perfumes I have, but is a welcome change for me. I am intoxicated !
I would definitely recommend this. Give this a sniff next time you are at a Kiehl's store.

Price
30 ml - AU 31$.

Kiehl's Patchouli & Freshrose Fragrance can be bought from their website and stores.
